Advice from someone who manufactures.
I am Benjamin Hubert, a mechanical engineer and managing director of a manufacturing company. MEI-Con stands for Maintenance, Engineering, Installations and Consulting — advice for firms that make parts, keep them running and ship them.
Three fields, one starting point
Everything I offer comes from the same experience: machining, maintenance and the spare parts business under my own responsibility, not out of textbooks.
Management consulting for manufacturers
Costing and contribution margin, order assessment, make-or-buy, the organisation of production and sales. For companies where the numbers have to add up before strategy makes any sense.
On requestCutting spare parts costs in special machinery
Spare parts from the original manufacturer often cost a multiple of what it takes to make them. I analyse your spare parts demand, weigh re-manufacturing against original supply, and build a supply route that brings service life and price into a sensible relationship.
On requestDefence Readiness
A programme for metalworking and mechanical engineering firms that want to bring spare capacity into the defence supply chain — without investing five figures in certification first.
To the programmeFrom the shop floor, not from consulting
Machining, internal machining and metrology are not things I know from standards documents but from the machine itself. Before taking over as managing director I spent years running service and the spare parts business in international mechanical engineering — the side of the business where it is decided whether a supply relationship holds or ends after the first article inspection.
That shapes how I work. I know what it means when a tolerance is achievable on paper but cannot be held in a running process. And I know what an investment does to the liquidity of a mid-sized company. Both lead me to advise against something more often than to talk anyone into it.
